Preparing Apprentices with Supportive Services (PASS) Program

About Our Program

Northern Nevada MAP’s Preparing Apprentices with Supportive Services (PASS) Program lowers barriers to entry for apprenticeship training by providing apprenticeship scholarship opportunities to support participation of all individuals seeking to join the skilled construction trades workforce. These scholarships are intended to cover one-time costs incurred while starting an apprenticeship program, like work boots, tools, and books. The program encourages the participation of women, veterans, minorities, and otherwise disadvantaged individuals. There is a cap of $250 per applicant per year. Apprentices are eligible for two calendar years from their date of initiation.

To Qualify:

1. Fully complete and sign this application with your Apprenticeship Coordinator's help. You can also get a copy from your Apprenticeship Coordinator. Have your Apprenticeship Coordinator sign the form indicating your eligibility for PASS Program services. If any required fields are left blank, the application will not be accepted.

2. Be a Northern Nevada resident.

3. Provide proof of enrollment of your selected building or construction trade school and the original receipts or bills that you need reimbursed (give these to your Coordinator).

4. Have your Apprenticeship Coordinator submit your completed application along with your proof of enrollment by email to pass@nnvmap.org.

What to Expect:

1. Once we receive and review your application, we will respond, letting your Apprenticeship Coordinator know we are in the process of reviewing your information.

2. After a decision has been made, we will send a follow-up email, informing your Coordinator of the award or denial.

3. Please follow up with the apprentice program and let them know you were awarded a scholarship.

4. We will then need to receive an invoice from the trade school and will issue payment as soon as possible. Payments are issued in about 30 days. Due to the limited nature of program funding, we will award priority to first-time applicants. We request that all who have previously received scholarship awards limit subsequent requests to 180 days between asks.
